You never know. Maybe Bates was not convinced at how SG was using his budget and was loathe to increase it. Like in any business if you want investment you need to prove you can invest what you have already wisely. Even his biggest fan would struggle to say SG did that.

Bates did back Blackwell all those years ago so maybe he will Warnock.

Think it depends on QPR getting relegated - if they do I can see two or three signings from there, inc the keeper. Robinson has always been a good keeper but prone to being as protective as cold custard albeit with a skin on it. Two relegations from the Prem with teams that are 'too good' to go down :P

Even if I was stupid enough to believe he would take a 80-90% pay cut on his present monies I wouldn't want him.
