My misses band in her youth. First time I heard this I was about 10 in a church youth club and some older kids were playing it over and over on the record player. It's a 10 from me .

Great tune, again, could have had a few of his.

T Rex/Marc Bolan the pivotal link between Hippies and Glam Rock

Utterly brilliant

This was recorded in 1970 but released later when he'd gone full electric and lost the yrannosaurus bit - so still a bit hobbity/noodly but moving more poppy. Had a fallout with Peel didn't he, I'm not sure if the phrase 'sold out' was used but I believe it was along those lines. Once read an article about John's Children, Bolan's previous band, they were banned from loads of places, something of a reputation it seems, he doesn't seem the type.

Not my fave T.Rex track but a fine choice.

Can't abide the bloke. Or the song. He unquestionably knew how to be in the right place at the right time. That's not a dig, it's a compliment.
But like so many that did that before and after, he didn't actually bring much to the table.
File under 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' for me...

My old boss said that Bolan was a top mod back in the day.

When he was Feld:

I hate this song. It's fucking shit.

I'm not a fan of the band at all but I love this track...There was a stripped down version from a John Peel session which appeared on an NME tape back in the 80s which I preferred to the single version.

Great tune! I remember Morrissey introducing this as ‘Certain White Swans I Know’. Not sure if he ever had to credit Bolan and pay his estate or not.

cordshoes Superb choice !! T rex were one of my earliest Musical Heroes. As an aside i used to play Drums in a band with a Mr. David Codling (sadly now departed) who was guitarist in a 60s band called Quitescents who also played the very first 2 Glastos and shared a stage with said Mr Bolan in 1970 and also Mr Bowie in 1971 In fact they were the very first act on stage! in 1970. so that's my claim to fame only 2 degrees of separation from true genius's

Has a nice riff and is a good pop song. My first, serious, girlfriend loved the bloke. At the time of its release, I was, probably, listening to the Floyd's Meddle.

    T. Rex. Kings of glam? Maybe, maybe not. But for sure they have left a longer lasting legacy than much of what was termed glam. And he didn't get lifted for kiddy fiddling like so many of his peers. I remember the Peel falling out, Peel saying at the time and quoted in at least one of his biographies 'don't meet your heroes, they'll only disappoint'.

Anyway, the song. Acemans. Bolan and T-Rex were one from my yoof, loved 'em. Good pick.

EEPW Bloke I used to know
used to roadie for Quintessence back in the day. Had some right stories, met Hendrix, well apparently.

Harvest some of the stories Codling told us were bonkers. When he lived in LA he was at parties at the same house where the Manson Murders took place around the same time. In fact he lived on the same block. He played with Hendrix, but the list of bands they did play with is bonkers. Floyd, Fleetwood mac, grateful dead etc.
